We’re throwing open the doors at The Old Crown for four whole days of family fun this August bank holiday.

From Friday 28th to Monday 31st August, we’re hosting Billy Wears The Crown, a weekend of live music, comedy, funfair games and plenty of good old fashioned fun, all in aid of a cause that means the world to our community.

The story behind Billy’s Battalion

Billy’s Battalion is close to the heart of Bookham, set up in memory of Billy, who sadly died aged just four from DIPG, a rare and aggressive childhood brain cancer.

Billy’s Battalion now supports children and families facing the same devastating diagnosis, offering the practical and emotional support that makes an unimaginably hard journey a little easier.

This Bank Holiday weekend, we want to raise awareness and much needed donations for the charity and we’d love nothing more than for you to join us.

What’s on across the bank holiday weekend

Friday: Live Music & Silent Auction

Kick things off in style with live music from 7:30pm. Pull up a chair, order a drink and settle in for an evening of good tunes and even better company.

We’ll also be running a silent auction featuring donations from brilliant local businesses, so keep an eye out for a bargain (and a good cause) while you’re at it.

Saturday: Comedy, Magic & Brewery Pop Up

Saturday brings stand up comedy and a magician from 5pm to 8:30pm, plus a brewery pop up pouring something new for the grown ups to enjoy alongside the entertainment.

Sunday: Billy Wears The Crown Day

This is the big one. Billy Wears The Crown Day brings the local community together for an afternoon of family fun, including:

• Face painting
• Superheroes
• Fairground games
• Pop up bar
• DJ
• Fancy dress competition
• Kids entertainment

Round up the family, dig out your best (or silliest) fancy dress and come and join in. There’ll be something for everyone, little ones included.

Monday: Live Music

We’ll see the bank holiday out gently with live music from 2pm, the perfect way to unwind before heading home.
